The department of Forest Protection collects data obtained by the diagnostic service as well as additional information on the incidents in a comprehensive data base, the results of which are accessible in the web.
Online- diagnosis of damaging agents
Link to information sheets and identification keyThe department of Forest protection offers online-information sheets to provide a diagnosis of pests, fungal diseases, bacterial diseases, virus diseases and abiotic damaging agents as frost, drought or immissions. Damaging agents are characterized by symptom descriptions, information on impact (damage), host spectrum and control measures and illustrated by fotos of symptoms.
A simple key enables a search for
- plant parts affaected (leaf/needle, stem, shoot/twig/branch, root)
- the category of damaging agents (animals, fungi, humans, abiotic, complex)
- the tree species
As a result the damaging agents are listed, which are in accordance with the combination of the factors searched for. By clicking on the button „Karte“ (=map), the incidence of the particular agents are shown in a map of Austria: each symbol represents a diagnosis performed by the department of Forest Protection.
Online-information system
The results of the diagnoses per year are also visualised in maps.The geographic reference is always the community (Gemeinde), where the analyzed sample was collected. The symbols facilitate a quick attribution to broadleaved trees (Laubholzschäden) or conifers (Nadelholzschäden) as well as to the category (type) of damaging agents (yellow: animals; green: fungi, bacteria, viruses; red: humans; blue: abiotic; striped: complex) By clicking on the symbol the following information becomes visible:
- Province (Bundesland)
- District (Bezirk)
- Year (Jahr)
- Month (Monat)
- Community (Gemeinde)
