Fir bark beetle - Pityophthorus pityographus | deutsch

Symptoms    Dying of twigs and branches of old trees, but also of younger plants, which have been physiologically weakened; underneath the bark star-shaped galleries, mating chamber deeply inserted in the springwood, larval tunnels wide (by contrast to those of the Six-toothed Spruce bark beetle)
Impact    Especially in afforestations attacking healthy trees after mass propagation
Control    Hygienic measures: above all in afforestations quick removal of infested plants; further information (in German): bark beetle-homepage.
