Large poplar longhorned beetle - Saperda carcharias | deutsch

Symptoms    Feeding of larvae at first in the phloem, then deep in the wood; oval tunnels, extending in vertical direction in the stem, up to 20cm in length, tough shavings; blackish intumescences in lower stem parts of young poplars, as well as on branches of older trees; whitish larva up to 4cm in size, with horn-like dots; beetle 22-30cm in length, yellow and intensily haired; maturation feeding of the beetles on the leaves in summer.
Impact    Young trees die off, otherwise increased risk of breakage
Control    Removal of dead trees and the whole plant material; if old trees are attacked, the thickness of the remaining wall should be checked.
