Needle gall midge of fir (Paradiplosis abietis) | deutsch

Symptoms    Needles mined: mine mostly in the centre of the needle, with a small longitudinal slit or with a slightly elevated blister-like gall; yellowing of needles, finally loss of needles.
Impact    Epidemics mainly in dense stands of firs on humid and sheltered sites; needle loss a problem only in young fir stands(loss of increment and, especially in Christmas tree cultures, economic loss).
Control    Aeriation of the stand; only in case of mass development in very young cultures or in Christmas tree cultures systemic insecticides from August on (see federal register of plant protection).
