Wilting of leaves in spring in large parts of the crown; on the stem detachment of the bark, from the stem base up to several meters, mostly limited to one side, later on around the stem; quick deteoration of the dead bark tissues, wood below with only slight local discoloration (greenish), sometimes pink-violet; occasionally cracks on the stem

Locally known from Italy, Germany and Austria, where various microfungi might play a role (still unknown). Primary cause probably extreme weather-conditions as frost or extreme drought.

Check discolored woody tissues for Plane canker (Ceratocystis fimbriata forma sp.platani - quarantine organism!), check stability of the tree, remove dying trees
