Hysterographium-Dieback of Ash - Hysterographium fraxini | deutsch

Symptoms    Dieback of shoots, twigs, branches and stems af ash; on the bark numerous small, erumpend, black, elongated and bulging fruiting bodies showing a longitudinal slit (hysterothecia)
Impact    Hysterographium is a widespread dieback-fungus of ash, but has not been a serious threat to ashes in Austria during the past decades. Most common are attacks of lower branches, which suffer from light deficiency; sometimes crown dieback is reported, but death of whole trees is rather rare. In the literature the species is characterized by following various types of stress: heavy frost, wet soil, dense stands with permanent high humidity, frequent change of dry and wet periods, nutrient deficiency, damage by insects or any wounds may act as predisposing factors.
