Symptoms | Death of previous years shoots, starting with the discoloration of single needles (yellow or reddish) in the middle part of one year old shoots caused by galls of the insect; at first, the terminal bud dies, followed by the whole shoot or the shoot parts below. | |
Impact | Common damaging agent of Norway spruce; damage restricted to one year's shoots; heavy attacks may, however, cause the loss of all shoots of that age. | |
