Symptoms
| |
Galls 1 to several cm in size, at first green, later on brown, shape of a pineapple, on the base of shoots (Sacchiphantes) or on the end of the shoots (Adelges); yelowing and loss of needles distal to the galls, shoot distortion, dieback
|
Impact
| |
Very common on Norway spruce; heavy infestation causes shoot- and twig-dieback as well as growth anomalies; most of the species of spruce gall aphids have larches as alternate hosts, where they cause damage to needles; hardly any possibility or errors.

Control
| |
If possible, removing of the unripe galls; insecticides: application in winter or at the time of flushing (see official register of Plant Protection)
