Large pine weevil - Hylobius abietis | deutsch

Symptoms    Wilt and death of young plants; roundish feeding pattern on the bark of young stems and branches, in heavy cases girdling; resin flow
Impact    Hylobius abietis is one of the most important damaging agents in young afforestations, propagating in the fresh stumps of recently cut trees. Causes high expenses due to repeated re-afforestation and the control.
Control    Plants dipped into insecticide-suspensions or use of stone dust; trapping bark, repeated checks necessary
