Spruce budmoths - Epinotia spp.; orange spruce needleminer - Coleotechnites piceaella | deutsch

Symptoms    Pale, mined needles, inside without feces; at first a few of them spinned together by feces of the caterpillars; Epinotia tedella larger nests, with the Pygmy needle tortricid as well as the orange spruce needleminer the nests remain more scattered and are not densily packed. Under protected conditions the nests may remain several years on the shoots.
Impact    Damage commonly neglectible; only Epinotia tedella may cause loss of increment, mass infestations usually are limited by two years.
