 | Needles red-brown, rarely death of shoots, twigs and branches; very rarely death of whole trees (for instance larches). Younger and single standing trees more affected; in Douglas fir discoloration of older needles.

 | Common phenomenon, if winter temperatures fall below -15°C; especially, if trees were not able to establish enough frost hardiness before; damage of that type occur in early winter following a sudden drop of temperature.
Curative measures Usually not necessary; fertilisation in late summer may also cause such symptoms, therefore no fertilisation at that time!
