 | | Norway spruce: yellowing of 2 to 3 years old needles, later on the lower needle surface several flat and black swellings(fruiting bodies), up to 0,7cm in length; in addition one black cross band on the basis of the needle

| Common needle disease on humid sites, especially in dense stands of spruce (light deficiency!); the symptoms can be mistaken for those of the weak parasite Lophodermium abietis (not restricted to the second or third year's needles, several black cross bands, shining black, boat-shaped); further information (in German): Gehölzkrankheiten in Wort und Bild (TUM Weihenstephan).
Curative measures
Chemical control at most in Christmas tree production (see official register of Plant Protection)
