International Meeting of Heads of State Forest Research Institutions

Vienna, July 5-6, 2004

Forest research in Europe is carried out by various types of institutions. Besides universities and private organisations, an important part is pursued by national forest research institutes. These state or federal institutions often have specific tasks, characteristics and problems.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the future of forest research in Europe, the role of national forest research institutes, concerted strategies and new ways for co-operation. In our view, the future of forest research in Europe will benefit from intensified co-operation.
